An exceptional mid-20th-century French Napoleon III style console cabinet or entry credenza, bench-made by the prestigious Italian cabinetmakers Colombo Mobili. Crafted in Meda, Italy, this masterwork features the maker's authentic fire-branded stamp on the back panel.
The piece exhibits a striking serpentine shape wrapped in rich, multi-toned book-matched veneers. A prominent central door opens to reveal generous storage, framed by a gorgeous oval medallion containing complex, vibrant floral marquetry inlay. Flanking panels display contrasting wood grains beneath an upper utility drawer outfitted with original decorative hardware.
True to classical French styling, the credenza is heavily embellished with fine ormolu (gilt bronze) foliate corner mounts, scrolling handles, decorative trim, and protective foot caps. The cabinet is capped by its original contoured thick natural marble top with a cleanly finished ogee edge.
