Pair of antique Arts & Crafts walnut Thebes stools designed by Leonard Wyburd for Liberty of London, England, Circa 1900
An exceptional pair of Arts & Crafts carved oak Thebes stools by Liberty of London dating to 1905. Beautifully crafted and preserved in excellent condition, these iconic stools embody the Egyptian Revival aesthetic popularized by Liberty designer Leonard Wyburd. Wyburd drew inspiration from furnishings depicted in ancient Egyptian tombs, creating a distinctive and influential design language that became synonymous with Liberty’s exotic furnishings.
Each stool features a dished solid walnut seat supported by decorative stretchers and four elegantly turned and carved tapering legs. The rich oak patina and sculptural form highlight the quality of craftsmanship and the timeless appeal of the Thebes design, making this pair an excellent example of early 20th-century Arts & Crafts furniture and Liberty’s celebrated Egyptian Revival production.
These stools have been cleaned and polished by in Bloomsbury's professional workshops and are ready to adorn your space!
