With the proteo, italian designer mario bertorelle created one of the most distinctive halogen table lamps of its time. Its characteristic feature is the extraordinary, serpentine lamp arm made of overlapping plastic segments, which gives the lamp its organic, almost sculptural appearance. At the same time, this design allows for flexible adjustment of the lamp head, making the proteo a design lamp that is both functional and iconic.
the lamp offered here is in immaculate condition. The black surface is exceptionally well-preserved and shows only minimal signs of age-related wear. The two-stage adjustable light intensity is particularly practical, allowing the lighting to be adapted to suit different needs, from pleasant task lighting to atmospheric accent lighting. The flexible design functions perfectly and allows for precise light direction.
this model was manufactured by the italian company j.m. – r.d.m. (jm illuminazione) in massanzago. Since the late 1970s, the company has specialized in innovative lighting made from technical plastics, producing a range of futuristic-looking models such as proteo, delta, ellisse, and delfino, designed by mario bertorelle. These lamps, developed between the late 1980s and early 1990s, impressively reflect the experimental italian design spirit of that era.
today, the jm rdm proteo is a sought-after collector's item of italian postmodern design and is equally suitable as an exceptional desk lamp, a design object, or a sculptural focal point in both modern and classic interiors. This piece has an attribution mark,
