in amazing working condition, these lamps were originally fixed to worktops in factory's & workshops to be moved as needed to illuminate work areas. They were famously used at bauhaus & curt fishers work was praised & supported by walter gropius founder of the influential bauhaus school of art & design.

in amazing condition, expertly restored cleaned, rewired & pat safety tested ready to go. This lamp uses a e27 fitting screw in bulb. Lamp supplied with an e27 led light bulb.

length (fully stretched) 137cm, height (fully stretched upward) 130cm, width (shade) 22cm.

midgard was founded in 1919 by the engineer curt fischer in auma / thuringia mainly to produce lights for use in his own factory iwa ronneberger & fischer (industrial plant auma). Curt fischer - midgard constructed the first articulated " steering lamps “, it was a true innovation in lighting at the start of the 20th century. This is why curt fischer is considered the inventor of tractable light by many. Fischer became the supplier of lighting to the bauhaus school, where the midgard lamps could be found on work desks as well as at the desks of renowned designers & teachers at bauhaus like gropius, wagenfeld, brandt & stoelzl as well as in their bauhaus apartments.

curt fisher passed away in 1956 & his son wolfgang took over the management of midgard & carried on manufacturing 3 designs up until the late 1960s.

in 2015 david einsiedler & joke rasch took over the midgard company from third generation fischer family & started producing lighting again in hamburg after restructuring the midgard company.
