Each … Read more A striking pair of vintage mid-century wrought iron jardinière stands featuring beautifully sculptural metalwork and an exceptionally decorative silhouette.

Each stand rises approximately 26 inches and is crowned by a generous 18-inch circular plant platform surrounded by a dramatic pointed gallery. Graceful scrolling arms support the upper platform, while the center features an openwork spherical cage composed of hand-worked scrolling iron.

Below, a twisted central column leads to an elegant tripod base with sweeping feet embellished with raised floral and foliate detailing. The combination of scrolling ironwork, twisted elements and botanical ornamentation gives the pair a wonderful Mediterranean, Spanish Revival and Old World modernist character associated with decorative mid-century interiors and garden design.

The original aged dark bronze-brown finish displays attractive variations in tone, oxidation and surface patina acquired over decades, adding depth and authenticity to the ironwork.

Their matched form is particularly appealing. Positioned on either side of an entry, fireplace, console, garden doorway or covered terrace, they create an impressive architectural statement. They would be equally beautiful indoors, where the sculptural ironwork can be appreciated as decorative objects in their own right.
