The organic baluster form body were constructed with irregular plaiting that emphasized the randomness and the aesthetic essence of Mingei style, which focus on the free-spirited spontaneity and wabi-sabi rather than precision and perfection. The artist incorporated large planks of timber bamboos into the body, the two contrasting materials changed the rhythm of the visual and created a contrast, not only in the form, but also in texture and color. This technique was later extensively interpreted and enhanced by contemporary bamboo master such as Yufu Shohaku (1941). The arched handles with bifurcated ends were made from Wisteria roots known for its twisted gnarled appearance. The bamboo used has a light smoke stain (Susutake) and was further lacquered in a deep reddish brown and displays a rich patina.
