Sailboats and skiffs are in dark shadow, mere silohuettes providing sharp contrast to brilliantly lit sky and sea.

We love this painting; it is impressive. Executed on a 36" x 48" canvas and measuring 42" x 54" including traditional frame, the painting details a vivid sky, reflective waters and an emerging sun. Boats in the water are only supporting characters in the early morning drama.

Notice that the boats are rendered in a series of very, very dark inky blues. As seen here on the easel--the dark blue/blacks contrast against the "hot" colors of sky and sea.

This work is PAINTERLY--obvious and detailed brushwork, thick use of oil paint, sometimes cresting off the canvas. It is expertly crafted

This painting glows "hot" off the canvas. (As you might guess--as with many of George's works--it is sometimes hard to let them go.)
