A set of three iconic Philippe Starck counter stools for Emeco in hand-brushed aluminum.
We purchased these stools new approximately 18 years ago for our first kitchen renovation, and they have been remarkably durable. After nearly two decades in a family kitchen, they remain in excellent condition, which says quite a lot about how beautifully these are made.
Designed by Philippe Starck for Emeco in 2004, the Icon stool is handcrafted in Pennsylvania from recycled aluminum. The design is wonderfully minimal: sculptural enough to make a statement, but visually light and simple enough to work in almost any kitchen. The aluminum construction also makes the stools exceptionally strong while remaining surprisingly lightweight.
The hand-brushed finish has a soft, understated silver appearance rather than a high-polish shine. These have been used and loved, so there are minor signs of age and normal use consistent with their vintage, but no significant damage. They remain sturdy, handsome and completely functional.
We are selling them only because we are renovating our kitchen again. Frankly, they may be the only things from our original renovation that could happily survive another 18 years.
