The fall-front opens to reveal a fitted writing interior with an arrangement of pigeonholes, small drawers and a central cupboard, providing both an ample writing surface and useful storage. Below are four graduated drawers fitted with brass bail pulls and escutcheons. The bureau rests on sturdy bracket feet with simple molded detailing at the base.

Particularly appealing is the restrained construction and beautifully aged pine, which gives the piece a more relaxed, country-house quality than its mahogany counterparts. Traditional dovetail joinery and the paneled back further speak to its period construction.
