Impressive 19th-century Victorian spelter figural sculptures, offered as a pair. One represents Euterpe, Muse of music and lyric poetry, posed with a lyre; the companion depicts an elegant Classical maiden or muse with an open book beside a draped pedestal.
The zinc-alloy spelter figures feature contrasting silver and black finishes, beautifully modeled drapery, Classical imagery and elaborate architectural bases embellished with foliate ornament. Each measures approximately 18"H x 8"W x 6"D. No maker's marks visible.
Very good antique condition with expected patina, finish loss and wear from age, contributing to their authentic Victorian character. An exceptional pair for a library, music room, mantel, foyer, study or formal living room.
