A striking vintage handcrafted leather lion sculpture with wonderful sculptural presence and beautifully aged character. The lion is formed in leather with individually shaped features, a dimensional mane, expressive open mouth, applied teeth and whisker details, and a long curved tail.
The warm cognac-brown leather has developed rich variations in tone and patina over time, giving the piece the look of a well-traveled decorative object collected over many years. Its substantial 23-inch length makes it particularly effective styled on a console, library table, chest or bookshelf.
Measures approximately 23” L × 7” W × 12” H.
Unmarked; maker and exact origin unknown. Vintage age-related wear, surface variations, scuffs, creasing and areas of old repair are present throughout and contribute to its distinctive character. Please review photographs closely for condition and construction details.
