The chest features a two-tier form with a gently arched backsplash rising above two shallow upper drawers, providing convenient storage for smaller items. Below, the main case is accented by a handsome pierced frieze of repeating Gothic arches and flanked by slender reeded pilasters. Two smaller drawers over three generous full-width drawers complete the lower case.

Finished in a warm reddish-brown wood tone with attractive variation in the grain, the chest retains its brass hardware, with round pulls on the upper drawers and traditional bail pulls below. Stepped ogee bracket feet give the substantial case a nicely finished architectural base.

The combination of Gothic-inspired ornament, traditional cabinetry and relatively compact 45-inch width makes this an especially useful statement storage piece for a bedroom, dressing room, guest room or eclectic traditional interior.

Stamped "Lane / Altavista, Virginia" to the drawer interior. Acquired from a prominent Hollywood props house, where it was maintained as part of a professional inventory for film and television productions.
