The body is worked in overlapping imbricated plumage, close and scale-like across the breast and neck, with the flight feathers of the wings deeply gouged and layered toward the tips. The eagle stands with its talons set upon a naturalistic rocky outcrop. The wings are carved separately and joined at the shoulders. The reverse is more summarily worked with adze and gouge, with feathering indicated across the wings, body and long tail. Spain, circa 1900.
