It originates from Japan, from the Showa period, when Japanese furniture took on Western-influenced forms.These standard-height tables answered to the new life in chairs, against traditional furniture at tatami level. They served as a desk or console in the home or office.The body is of wood, probably zelkova (keyaki), with two drawers in the apron and straight legs joined by side stretchers. The iron pulls are recessed.The wood keeps a warm patina and its grain in view, with soft marks of use. The surface reads authentic, with no restoration to mask it.Today it serves as a desk, entrance console or side table.
