This elegant pair of l102/32 photophores was designed by hans-agne jakobsson and manufactured in markaryd, sweden during the 1970s.
originally developed for asp-holmblads restaurant candles, these sculptural candle lanterns combine solid brass bases with beautifully hand-blown coloured glass shades. The combination of one amber and one lightly smoked shade creates an especially harmonious composition.
the brass retains its original warm patina, while both shades remain free from chips or cracks. The taller example still bears its original manufacturer's label.
a refined example of scandinavian modern design, equally suitable as decorative objects or atmospheric candle lanterns.
each photophore features a concealed spring mechanism inside the brass base that gently pushes the candle upwards as it burns, ensuring the flame remains perfectly positioned within the glass shade for an even and atmospheric light.
