Dating to circa 1898–1905, this dramatic object embodies the expressive freedom and organic elegance of the Jugendstil movement at its finest.
Hand-blown in rich golden-amber glass and finished with a luminous metallic iridescent surface, the bowl shimmers beautifully in shifting light — revealing tones of warm gold, burnt orange, amber, and flashes of electric blue, pink, and violet. The surface has a distinctive granular, almost crystalline texture, reminiscent of crushed gold dust or volcanic glass, giving the piece extraordinary depth and tactile visual richness.
Around the interior runs a ring of individually applied glass prunts — small molten glass droplets that add a coral-like, organic rhythm to the composition. These raised elements enhance the sculptural quality of the bowl and reinforce its naturalistic inspiration, echoing marine and botanical forms.
The most striking feature is the dramatically worked rim. The edge has been shaped into twelve alternating spikes and flowing points, some rising sharply upward while others curve and soften downward. This creates a dynamic silhouette reminiscent of a sea anemone, radiant sunburst, or a stylized crown — a powerful expression of molten glass in motion, frozen at its most expressive moment.
