Monumental double-apothecary cabinet built in hardwood with its original deep oxblood-mahogany stain and steel cardholder pulls. The upper sections feature full-width adjustable shelving on metal standards, forming eight tall bays with clean sightlines and a continuous architectural top. Below, sixty-four drawers-arranged in tight, symmetrical banks-retain their original early-machine dovetails and straight-grain drawer bottoms. The cases meet at a central seam but present visually as a unified, overbuilt commercial fixture. Original gold Good Fixtures decals remain intact on both upper bases.
Originally produced by W. B. McLean-long recognized for heavy-duty commercial store fixtures supplied to druggists, grocers, and general stores nationwide-this cabinet exhibits the durability and precision typical of their early Chicago workshop. Its scale, workmanship, and intact hardware mark it as a flagship-grade installation.
