While two earlier lemon paintings shared space on my studio wall, this composition began to take shape as I explored how richly layered textures could settle into a quieter, more restful arrangement.

Lemons have long drawn me in for their simple forms and luminous yellow color. Here, they rest against an intricate backdrop where pattern becomes an active part of the composition rather than simply a setting. The interplay between vibrant color, decorative motifs, and negative space creates a gentle rhythm that invites the eye to linger.

Like many of my paintings, *Citrus and Sunshine* evolved through an ongoing studio conversation with earlier work. It reflects my continuing interest in finding beauty in everyday objects and reimagining the traditional still life through expressive color, contemporary design, and a sense of quiet contemplation.
