Their ambiguous silhouettes suggest figures, architectural fragments or musical instruments without settling into a literal representation.

Deep blacks provide the composition with a strong internal structure, while ivory, powder pink, muted green, burnt orange, burgundy and earthy brown create a restrained yet subtly vibrant palette. Built through successive layers of oil paint, the surface retains the marks of the palette knife, scraped passages and irregular textures that give the work its distinctive depth and material presence.

The title Conversion refers to a movement from one state to another: each form alters the perception of those surrounding it, while every colour contributes to the balance of the whole. The painting combines geometric rigour with a quieter sense of movement, inviting the viewer to discover new relationships within the composition over time.
