A powerful mid-size example of Ju Ming’s iconic Taichi Series, executed in painted copper with a rich bronze-like finish (black). This dynamic abstract figure captures the essence of Tai Chi movement through bold, interlocking geometric volumes and strong directional energy. The surface retains Ju Ming’s characteristic textured tool marks and dark painted finish, creating a compelling interplay of light and shadow. Dimensions: 19" high × 19" wide × 11" deep (approximately 48 × 48 × 28 cm).
Mounted on its original solid marble base. The sculpture exhibits the mature abstract style associated with Ju Ming’s work of the 1990s. Signature, date, and edition number are most likely incised on the underside of the sculpture where it meets the marble base (standard placement for the artist’s copper and bronze works). The sculpture will not be removed from the base for examination. Condition is very good overall, with the intentional rough texture and patina expected of the medium. Suitable for both indoor display and protected outdoor settings. Ju Ming (1938–2023) is widely regarded as one of the most important Taiwanese sculptors of the 20th century. His Taichi Series is collected by major museums and private collectors worldwide and continues to command strong results at international auction. This piece is offered from a private collection. Official authentication by the Juming Culture and Education Foundation is recommended and can be pursued by the buyer at the foundations next window date of April 1st to May 31st, 2027.. A rare opportunity to acquire a museum-quality mid-size Taichi work at an accessible price point.
The sculpture is in Good condition and it is sound. There are a few edges that show the copper coming through very minor.
