Designed specifically for flat storage, this cabinet would have been used for architectural drawings, engineering plans, lithography stones, patterns, maps, or textile layouts-materials that demanded horizontal filing without rolling or folding.

The cabinet features a low, elongated profile with paneled ends, vertical rear boards, and a thick, weight-bearing case built for constant shop use. Drawer interiors are clean and unfinished, reinforcing its purpose-built, no-frills nature. Recently refinished in-house, the exterior now presents a deep, warm brown tone that highlights the grain while retaining the honest industrial presence of a working flat file rather than a decorative adaptation.
