The ship’s silhouette is exceptionally detailed: curved, engraved sails; twisted metal rigging; ladders; flags; portholes; and a small aft cabin. The sails are adorned with motifs reminiscent of the Maltese cross, recognizable by its flared arms. This ancient symbol, associated with the Order of St. John of Jerusalem and later with the Knights of Malta, reinforces the historical character of the design. Stylized and integrated into the metalwork, it lends the fixture a chivalric air and accentuates its medieval and maritime aesthetic. Positioned behind the structure, the light source casts a warm, indirect glow on the wall, highlighting the cutouts and creating an elegant play of shadows around the sails and rigging. Its handcrafted construction and hammered metal give it a sculptural quality, reminiscent of the brutalist and neo-medieval designs of the 1960s and 1970s.
