Stunning & Rare Large-Scale Vista Alegre Porcelain Bird Sculpture. One of the most iconic and renowned pieces from the prestigious ;Vista Alegre Factory, Portugal.
Magnificent, investment-grade porcelain sculpture from the renowned Portuguese maker Vista Alegre. Designed by master sculptor Joaquim de Andrade, this piece is titled "Pica-laranjas" (Orange-eaters) and features a pair of dramatically styled exotic birds perched amidst fruit-laden branches.
Standing an impressive 17 inches tall. This is a highly collectible centerpiece statement item.
Displaying incredible craftsmanship in molded porcelain, embossed, intricate leaf work, and delicate hand-painted gradients with polychrome decoration of extraordinary realism.
The composition depicts two birds — the typical orange-peckers — perched on a tree trunk decorated with oranges and sculpted foliage in relief, in a naturalistic scene of great vivacity and detail.
The quality of the hand painting and the refinement of the modelling are unmistakable hallmarks of Vista Alegre's excellence.
