An exceptional mid-century Shōwa-era Japanese woodblock reprint of the historic landscape masterpiece "Twilight Snow at Mount Atago" (愛宕山暮雪) by the legendary ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858). Originally designed between 1838–1841, this piece belongs to his celebrated series Eight Views of Shiba in the Eastern Capital (東都司馬八景). The dynamic design depicts a sprawling, peaceful view of the temple grounds at Mount Atago during a heavy winter snowstorm, showcasing Hiroshige's brilliant use of deep red architectural contrasts against cold, atmospheric slate-gray horizons.
This premium edition replicates the original historical publisher marks for Echizenya and Izumiya Ichibei, featuring a crisp hand-carved signature reading Hiroshige Ga. Meticulously hand-printed on heavy, fibrous handmade washi paper, the ink saturation displays flawless registration and beautiful bokashi horizon gradations. It features untrimmed, full margins and comes cleanly separated from its original framing mount, accompanied by its original cream window mat board and defensive card stock folder.
