Vintage set of six dining chairs by Paul McCobb for Directional, models 7001 and 7009, made in the United States in the 1950s.
The boomerang shape of the rear legs, the bowtie stretcher bar above the caned backs, and the subtle scoop down the center of the arms make this one of McCobb’s most recognizable designs. The mahogany frames contrast beautifully with the off-white leather and natural caning.
This set was refinished and reupholstered in 2020. The seats and frames show light vintage wear consistent with conscientious use. The backs are newly recaned and are free from imperfections.
The chairs are unmarked. The design, materials, and dimensions indicate these chairs are Paul McCobb originals.
