A heavy-gauge steel dental workstation built by The American Cabinet Company, a division of Hamilton Mfg. Co., long regarded as one of America's premier producers of dental, medical, and laboratory cabinetry throughout the early-mid 20th century. Hamilton, founded in 1880, originally rose to prominence manufacturing typesetting and printer's furniture before expanding into industrial-grade institutional casework.

This mid-century cabinet shows the company's shift into streamlined, purpose-engineered dental equipment. Painted steel construction with contrasting black Bakelite-form trim gives the piece an unmistakable Art Deco/early 1950s silhouette. The façade is packed with storage: eighteen narrow top drawers, six medium drawers, and two deep lower drawers-all riding on steel channels and fitted with vertical black pulls. The upper worktop integrates multiple hinged compartments, including two lidded side wells and a central drop-front section that retracts into the body when the top lid is lifted, revealing the long internal cavity originally meant for tools and sterilization supplies. The blacked-out work surface is thick, durable, and overbuilt in classic Hamilton fashion. See less
