Bring timeless elegance to the table with this complete vintage Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Co. silver-plated chafing dish, model No. 549, crafted in Meriden, Connecticut during the early 20th century.
This handsome five-piece serving set features a beautifully cast border of scrolling acanthus leaves and shells, graceful cabriole legs terminating in detailed lion’s paw feet, a richly turned hardwood handle, and the original domed lid with ring finial. Resting on its original warming stand with spirit burner, the dish was designed for formal entertaining and remains equally striking as a functional serving piece or decorative display.
The set is thoughtfully designed with a plain silver-plated water pan that rests within the warming stand, while the ornate handled serving dish nests securely inside the water pan to provide gentle, even heat. This complete five-piece configuration makes the set as practical for entertaining today as it is beautiful for display.
The underside is marked Crescent with the manufacturer’s hallmark and model number 549.
