c. 1950s-1960s; Hamilton Manufacturing Co. - Two Rivers, WI
Tall, two-piece gray steel medical or dental cabinet designed in the streamlined industrial style of Norman Bel Geddes for Hamilton. The upper glass-front compartment showcases frosted panels and oversized chrome pulls-hallmarks of Bel Geddes' simplified, machine-age aesthetic. Below, a recessed mid-level work surface is framed by the cabinet's rounded steel corners, with two smooth-running metal drawers positioned beneath. The lower double-door cabinet provides two interior shelves for organized storage. The entire form rests on tapered steel legs, giving the piece a clean, elevated profile. A red-and-silver Hamilton badge is mounted on the upper section.
Hamilton Manufacturing Co. was one of the country's leading producers of steel medical and laboratory furnishings, often collaborating with major industrial designers to bring modernist principles into institutional environments.
