The work is so fine on this piece that I had to use a loupe to ensure that it is indeed an original painting, which is of course what Danskin was renowned for.

This peaceful rural landscape features a horse grazing among golden hills, stately oak trees, and a weathered barn, a subject Danskin became well known for during his career.

Richard Arthur Danskin was born in Berkeley, California, and grew up in El Cerrito and Kensington. After leaving a career in architecture in 1969, Danskin decided to pursue painting and opened his first gallery in Carmel. He later owned galleries in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Palm Beach, and Maui. Today, he is best remembered for his highly detailed, realistic landscapes inspired by his travels through rural America, preserving barns, farms, and quiet country scenes that were already beginning to disappear.
