This exceptional French Napoleon III mirror combines elegant proportions with richly sculpted gilt-metal ornament inspired by the Louis XV Rococo style. Dating from the second half of the nineteenth century, it reflects the exceptional craftsmanship and decorative richness that define the finest French interiors of the Second Empire.

The architectural frame is constructed with ebonized wood and embellished with finely cast and chased gilt-metal mounts. Flowing acanthus leaves, scrolling rocaille, blooming roses, and floral garlands cover the frame in remarkable detail. A pierced crest with a central shell motif crowns the composition, while elaborate openwork corner mounts create a striking sense of depth and movement.

The mirror retains its original mercury glass, including the central plate, mirrored side panels, and the mirrored frieze above.
