Dated circa 1840, this linen press … Read more Beautiful English pine linen press with the original rosewood knobs and golden honey patina. Dated circa 1840, this linen press was appraised for $4500 in 1988 by a European antiques store in Armonk, New York. It’s been restored at least once before (hardware dates to the mid 20th century), with a noticeable repair on the upper right drawer. I personally replaced the left side trim, sourcing old growth pine to match the grain, and finished it with a traditional shellac. Only the bottom shelf is original, I cut a new one for the top, both are removable. While this piece has it’s imperfections, it has outstanding character and would make a fantastic addition to any history lovers home. See less

Definitely has noticeable surface wear, numerous scratches, dents, and chips to be expected from a nearly 200 year old piece. Most notably the large chip in the upper left drawer. Drawers slide easily without friction. Cabinet doors shut and do not swing, however there is a slight misalignment (can be seen in the side view picture). Two of the rosewood knobs have chips (I’ve placed them on the bottom drawers, not easily noticeable). I do not have the original keys, so I am unsure on the functionality of the locks. There are tags on the back of the cabinet along with the back of each drawer, I believe those were inventory tags from the 80’s. less
