An exceptional monumental ceramic table lamp by Gordon and Jane Martz for Marshall Studios, showcasing the sculptural craftsmanship and organic modern aesthetic that made the studio a hallmark of American mid-century design. The tall hand-thrown stoneware body features an elegant incised flowing line decoration that wraps continuously around the cylindrical form, beautifully complemented by a warm natural glaze with subtle speckling. A turned solid walnut neck and its original walnut finial complete the design, creating the signature combination of ceramic and wood for which Martz is celebrated.
Standing an impressive 38.5 inches tall to the top of the original finial, with the ceramic body measuring 29.25 inches in height, this is a truly monumental example that makes a striking statement whether displayed on a credenza, console, or sideboard. The lamp retains its original walnut finial and is signed Martz.
A rare opportunity to acquire one of the largest and most architectural Marshall Studios lamps produced.
