Paul Erich Felger (German, 1910-1979), mixed media paint on paper titled "Gypsy Camp", signed and dated 1949 at lower right, … Read more Paul Erich Felger (German, 1910-1979), mixed media paint on paper titled "Gypsy Camp", signed and dated 1949 at lower right, presented under glass in an antique gilt composition frame. Born in Waiblingen, Germany, Felger was a painter, graphic artist, and writer. He studied at the AKAD University in Stuttgart and later become a board member of the New Secessionists. In 1937 his work was classified by the National Socialists as "degenerate" and was confiscated by the "Reichskammer der bildenden Künst." A selection of what remains of his early work and later paintings is in the permanent collection of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. The painting offered here is among the strongest of Felger's work to have entered the public market.

Condition: Good vintage condition with frame abrasions and losses, not examined out of the frame.
