The model is one of the most recognisable examples of czechoslovakian modernism, combining functionality with the elegant, understated form characteristic of interwar design.

the frame is made of beech wood. The legs are lacquered black. The contoured rear legs flow seamlessly into the backrest, which is finished in walnut veneer. The distinctive contrast between the dark frame and the warm tone of the natural wood emphasises the furniture’s geometric form and evokes the art deco aesthetic. The seat has been reupholstered in a new olive-green fabric.

the chair’s designer, jindřich halabala (1903–1978), is regarded as one of the most outstanding czech designers of the modernist period. His works were distinguished by a combination of functionality with an elegant, fluid form and remain among the most highly regarded examples of 20th-century central european design to this day.

the chairs have undergone professional restoration. They are an example of high-quality czechoslovak design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
