This is an exceptionally rare offering for several reasons.
First — This monumental abstract painting was created by the well-known California artist PAULDEN Evans (American, b. 1939) for his own personal collection. It has remained in the artist’s possession and has never before been offered for sale.
Second — PAULDEN is no longer painting. He decided it was time to retire from creating new works despite continued requests from collectors. Over the past 27 years, he completed 986 paintings in this distinctive style. His work is widely collected, and many owners have shared how profoundly his paintings have enriched their homes and lives.
Third — This is the largest painting PAULDEN has ever created. Measuring an impressive 10 feet wide × 8 feet high × 4 inches deep, it stands as the culmination of his artistic career. The edges are professionally painted black, allowing the work to be displayed beautifully without the need for framing.
Fourth — Unlike a traditional canvas, this painting is executed in oil and enamel on a custom-fabricated aluminum panel. This unique construction provides exceptional durability and stability. It may be displayed indoors or outdoors under appropriate conditions without concerns about warping, rust, or deterioration that can affect conventional supports. Few works of this scale combine such visual impact with this level of permanence.
The painting includes the necessary hanging hardware for straightforward installation. Because of its extraordinary size and value, it will be professionally transported using the white-glove fine art shipping service we have successfully relied upon for many years.
About the Artist
Before becoming a full-time painter, PAULDEN Evans enjoyed a successful career as an interior designer with several offices throughout California. Upon retiring from that profession, he devoted himself entirely to creating large-scale abstract paintings. His years as a designer gave him a unique understanding of how contemporary art transforms architectural spaces and interiors.
Beginning in 1999, PAULDEN was represented by several galleries, including Colin Fisher Studios in Cathedral City, California. He has presented numerous one-person exhibitions, and his work resides in public institutions as well as hundreds of distinguished private collections.
This extraordinary painting is ideally suited for a residence, corporate environment, hospitality setting, or public space capable of showcasing a work of its remarkable scale. Its commanding presence and sophisticated palette ensure that it becomes the focal point of any room in which it is displayed.
