An exquisite 13-piece vintage Japanese porcelain demitasse coffee service retailed by Andrea by Sadek (Charles Sadek Import Co., New Rochelle, NY). Crafted in Japan during the mid 20th century, this complete ensemble captures the opulent aesthetic of classical Edo-period Arita/Imari porcelain exports with superb craftsmanship and rich traditional iconography.
The set displays a vibrant Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, rich iron-red enamels, lush leaf green, and radiant yellow accents, elegantly framed by hand-gilded rims and scrollwork borders (karakusa). The cylindrical bodies feature hand-painted swirling reserves depicting traditional auspicious motifs: the stylized Pine Tree (matsu) symbolizing endurance and longevity, paired with blooming Cherry and Plum Blossoms (sakura/ume) representing renewal and spring.
