The square tile surface is set within a warm wood border and rests atop a sculptural, quad-swept base, reflecting the organic craft movement of mid-century California studio design.

Attributed to the artistic circle of California modernist Eve Paige Spencer (1920–2009). While unsigned, this piece has been retained in the family for decades and was curated directly from the private collection of Eve Paige Spencer—whose artwork is represented in the permanent collection of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, California—and her husband, writer and art collector Donner Spencer.
