The design consists of a large … Read more Dutch Ladder wall coat rack, designed by Tjerk Reijenga for Pilastro in the 1950s. The design consists of a large black lacquered metal frame, constructed from three vertical planes with horizontal bars. The clean construction and carefully distributed color accents give the coat rack its distinct graphic character. The twelve original hooks are finished in red, yellow, and off-white. They can be freely distributed along the horizontal bars, allowing the layout to be easily adjusted. Above the frame is a deep metal hat shelf with ample space for hats, bags, or scarves. The slender lines of the frame keep the design airy, despite the generous size. The combination of black metal, primary colors, and functional details closely aligns with Dutch modernism from this period. The coat rack is in a lived-in vintage condition. The frame and hooks show visible signs of use and localized paint loss, consistent with age and original use. All twelve hooks and the characteristic light end caps are present.
