The round, flattened base features the Herbier motif, a double-leaf fern design incised into the clay before glazing, so that the leaves are slightly recessed beneath a warm, sandy glaze that shifts between ochre and pale green depending on the light. The neck rises in a narrow, tapered column towards the lamp holder, maintaining a low and stable silhouette. The base is sealed at the bottom, a common detail in studio ceramics from this period and region.
