Sculpture created by Robert Neuhauser in Switzerland, circa 1985, in diabase, a black volcanic rock with a particularly dense structure.
Carved from a monolithic block, the composition combines rough and polished surfaces in a subtle interplay of contrasts. Organic curves gradually emerge from the mineral mass, revealing the depth of the stone and the precision of the sculpting.
from the 1980s onward, Robert Neuhauser developed a significant series of stone sculptures in which refined forms and architectural volumes engage in a dialogue with the natural qualities of the material. This exploration was notably presented at the exhibition "Arbeiten in Stein" (Working in Stone) at the Sigristenkeller Gallery in Bülach in 1989.
Born in Altnau, Switzerland, Robert Neuhauser successively explored wood, stone, bronze, and aerated concrete, developing a body of work in which the simplicity of form highlights the material.
