Andre Gisson (American, 1921-2003) watercolor and gouache on paper featuring a seascape with figures. Matted with a linen filet, in a silver and gilt finished frame and glazed. Appears to be nsigned. Not examined out of the frame. Gisson was born Anders Gittelson in Brooklyn, New York and changed his name to Andre Gisson to appear French as an artist. He graduated from Pratt and served as a Captain in the Army during World War II. Gisson's work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Institute and the Triton Museum of Art in North Carolina. Among his private collectors were President Lyndon B. Johnson and W. Somerset Maugham.
