Crafted in 1939, it features a distinct boat shape, dual side handles, and a basketweave relief texture along the rim, adorned with intricate rust-orange floral motifs and fine 24k gold gilding. The fitted lid is crowned with Herend’s signature hand-modeled rose finial.

While Herend open sauce boats are occasionally seen on the market, finding a complete 1939 centennial piece that includes the original fitted lid and pristine three-dimensional rose finial is exceptionally rare, with virtually no other covered examples currently available.

The underside bears the classic Herend blue crown stamp celebrating the 1839–1939 centennial year ("1839–1939 Handcoloured Herend Hungary"), along with impressed Herend factory markings. 1939. This specific commemorative mark was used exclusively in 1939 to celebrate 100 years since Mór Fischer acquired the factory in 1839 and began Herend's world-renowned porcelain production. See less
