North India, probably Rajasthan or Deccan, 17th century.
Heavy saber with a wide steel blade, strongly flared and curved
towards the point, equipped with a thick hilt reinforced with
cut-out side plates.Khanda-type pommel, with a wide forged steel basket guard
, a protective circular plate above the handle, and
a long tubular pommel surmounted by a spherical button and a
vertical stem.
A North Indian khanda (or tegha), with broad flaring steel blade
with reinforced forte; iron basket hilt with large disc-guard and long
pommel spike, 17th century.
