The sculpture … Read more A superb early 19th-century neoclassical sculpture in white marble depicts Hebe, goddess of youth and daughter of Zeus.
The sculpture is after a work by Berthel Thorvaldsen (1770–1844) and was created in 1806.
She holds a jug and a bowl containing the nectar that grants the gods eternal youth and mortality.

Her features conform to the canons of ancient Greece in the tradition of the neoclassical school.
The sculpture is executed with exaggerated curves and uninterrupted volutes to illustrate a form of gentleness attributed to femininity. Made of
fine, high-quality white marble,
the sculpture is exquisitely sculpted, with drapery reminiscent of ancient Greek art.
