Sword of a senior officer or high-ranking official, Restoration period (circa 1820).
Gilt bronze hilt with a molded branch.
The grip is adorned with mother-of-pearl inlays, and the shield-shaped guard features a bas-relief of a portrait of Henry IV surrounded by military symbols, surmounted by two facing lions. The
bronze is very finely chased and guillochéd.
The blade is engraved on the upper half.
Blade length: 85 cm.
Overall length: 95 cm.
