Heavy thrusting dagger from the 16th-17th century
Rocket entirely filigreed with iron, with slightly concave sides.Wrought iron mount, solid iron pommel, button-shaped, serving as a counterweight to the blade.
Guard with two straight flared quillonsStraight, rigid and very tapered blade, designed primarily for thrusting (the thrust) in order to penetrate through clothing or flaws in armor.
The marking visible on the flat/fuller of the blade is a very characteristic feature of edged weapons manufactured in Europe between the late 16th and 17th centuries.
The engraving features stylized cursive letters,These are either gunsmith's marks or votive inscriptions.

Total length: 40 cm
The steel shows slight oxidation pitting and a uniform grey patina, characteristic of such an old and very well-preserved piece.The handle binding is remarkably well preserved, with no visible loosening of the filigree.
Provenance: - Parisian private collection.
