This elegant table, attributed to Milo Baughman and created in the 1970s, embodies the sophisticated modernist aesthetic of the period. Its pristine, polished chrome structure supports three circular smoked glass tabletops, two of which swivel, allowing for remarkably easy adjustment of the space. The silhouette, both airy and architectural, plays on the transparency of the tinted glass and the brilliance of the metal to create a refined visual presence, typical of 1970s American glamour. Thanks to its fluid mechanism, the side tabletops open and unfold to offer a generous surface or close to regain a compact form, making this piece a perfect example of functional and sculptural design. The overall effect is one of understated luxury and timeless modernity, capable of enhancing both contemporary and vintage interiors.
Milo Baughman (1923–2003) was a major American designer of modernism, famous for his furniture with clean lines and his use of chrome, glass, and other fine materials. His partnership with Thayer Coggin, beginning in the 1950s, resulted in pieces that have become iconic of American design. His style, at once minimalist, elegant, and functional, remains highly sought after by collectors today.
