Executed with thick, impasto-style brushwork, the oil on canvas panel composition depicts a winding country road flanked by telephone poles, rustic dwellings, a vibrant focal tree, and a historic architectural bell tower or church steeple against a soft sky.The reverse side boasts phenomenal, intact mid-century provenance. It features a stamped M. Grumbacher "Paint-Tested" Genuine Canvas Panel manufacturer label filled out and signed by the artist ("Ethel G. Baum"). Additionally, the backing preserves a heartfelt, handwritten presentation inscription dated “Feb 4, 1954” reading: “To The Morgans with Our Best Love, Ethel.” Later historic pencil notations trace the piece through family lineage to a Roy Morgan on Myers Street. Housed in its original, wide-profile rustic natural wood gallery frame measuring 24"H x 28"W, this piece offers an instant, mid-century structural vignette rich with documented American heritage. The original oil painting on Grumbacher canvas panel is flat, rigid, and securely housed. The thick impasto paint layer is stable, structurally sound, and free of active flaking, chips, or paint loss, maintaining its rich mid-century texture. The reverse backing paper displays expected vintage water-staining, localized foxing, and age-appropriate toning that does not affect the front artwork, while beautifully preserving the historical handwriting and artist signature. The wide natural wood frame is structurally solid with tight mitered corners and exhibits light, age-appropriate surface scuffs and minor oxidation to the original iron hanging wire. less
