An exceptional basket in excellent vintage condition from Chesterfield, MA. Hefty, handmade with pounded ash, brass and wood. Ben Higgins work was known for its precision and signature construction details, including four-part rims with triangular tips and three nails. Featured in Yankee Magazine in 1965 as "The Last Basketmaker," Higgins is remembered for his mastery of pounded ash and his dedication to a vanishing tradition of American craftsmanship.
Measurements were taken by hand and are approximately - in inches: 16.3 Long X 11 Wide X 12 High (at handle). Basket base is approx. 6.75” high.
