Each of the three rails is reeded (fluted) for a bit of textural interest and a firmer grip on linens, and the top rail is joined to the sturdy brass side posts with turned ball finials at the corners. A lower cross stretcher between the legs adds stability and a touch of visual weight to the base.

The brass carries a warm, honeyed patina with light surface wear and scattered age spots consistent with age and honest use — nothing that detracts from the piece's presence, and a great candidate for polishing back to a high shine if a brighter look is preferred. Solid, well-built construction throughout, with a nice heft to the metal.

Equally at home holding folded towels in a bathroom, throws and blankets in a living room or bedroom, or quilts at the foot of a bed.
